About Sole

The Company, formerly part of Zanussi, began producing electric motors exclusively for Zanussi appliances under the Sole™ brand name in 1963 in Pordenone, Italy.

In 1984, Electrolux acquired Zanussi and in 1994 expanded its operations by acquiring AEG Hausgeräte, a German motor manufacturer with operations in Hungary.

The Electrolux Group decided to divest a number of its component manufacturing divisions in 2002 to focus on its core business of finished goods. In April of that same year, the household appliance and industrial motor divisions were acquired by a consortium of private investors forming Sole Motors.

Sole shareholders purchased the household and commercial compressor divisions of the Electrolux Group in 2003, changed the combined company’s name to Appliances Components Companies, forming the ACC Group.

In January 2010, Nidec Corporation acquired the household motors business of ACC Group and changed the name to Nidec Sole Motor Corporation.
