Nidec Motor Corporation was formed when Nidec Corporation, an $8 billion manufacturer of motors large and small, acquired the motors and controls business of Emerson Electric Company in September 2010. We are headquartered on the Emerson campus in St. Louis, MO. Our employee population at this location numbers 450.
As part of the general motors segment of Nidec Group, Nidec Motor Corporation is comprised of three core businesses:
- Appliance Motors and Controls serves the major “wet” appliance markets (clothes washers, dryers, and dishwashers). We provide both motors and controls to drive the operation of these key home appliances and also supply switch products to the automotive market for applications like headlamps and driver information displays.
- Industrial Motors and Systems produces a broad range of motors for such industrial markets as water systems, petrochemical processing, food and beverage, mining and metals, and factory automation. These motors range in size from 1 to 5000 HP with primary applications in driving pumps, compressors, material handling and other mechanical-duty equipment. In addition, the industrial business serves the emerging traction-drive market for hybrid-electric vehicles in construction, agriculture, and other commercial use.
- Commercial Motors is focused on solutions for the HVACR market (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration) in both residential and commercial applications as well as other fractional horsepower motor uses such as pool and spa pumps, fitness equipment, and gate and door operators.
Nidec Motor Corporation has 10 manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Mexico, UK and China. In addition, we have 15 Technology, Administration and Distribution locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, China, and the Philippines.
