Nidec Motor Corporation seeks candidates for a Product Manager role to support Nidec Motor Corporation’s businesses. This position is located in St. Louis MO.

The Product Manager leads the development of strategic marketing goals and provide timely execution of the established goals to increase both profit and sales for the large Horizontal Integral Horsepower Electric Motor product line.  These goals include, but are not limited to, new product development, new product launch, market research, sales support, planning, reporting, advertising, and promotion.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Product Development - Idea generation, leading multi-functional product teams
  • Product cost reductions – Lead brainstorming, analysis and implementation of cost reductions
  • New Product Marketing Analysis – Data Mining, Market Research, Value Analysis, and Conjoint Analysis
  • E-Commerce Development - Manages product information on Web Based Applications
  • Competitive Analysis – Leads effort to evaluate competitor’s products in order to establish and understand features and possible un-met benefits and cost trade-offs of various technical options.  Requires personal interaction and interviews with the entire customer chain, from OEM, distributor and end user.
  • Product Literature – Develop and maintain product catalogs, flyers, spec sheets, trouble shooting and installation manuals.
  • Product Training – Supports the development of training tools and training presentations to support multiple sales channels including but not limited to Original Equipment Manufacturers and Distribution.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.  MBA desirable.              
  • A minimum of five years related work experience in Industrial Electric Motor or Drive products or applications.
  • Experience with 500 HP+ high speed (3600 rpm or higher) electric motor or other high speed industrial equipment (such as centrifugal compressors) design or application experience desirable.                          
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, competing demands and complete plan on a timely basis.
  • Ability to manage new product development projects and new product introduction experience required. 
  • Ability to complete sales and profit analysis, advertising and promotion, and promote positive customer interaction experiences preferred.
  • Demonstrated results orientation with high achiever mindset (Set high expectations and stretch goals).
  • Excellent leadership, managerial, organizational, communication, and persuasion skills
  • Ability to demonstrate practical and apply strategic skills with effective analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively navigate Microsoft Office Suite software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), ERP (Oracle) software and engineering databases.
  • Highly motivated with a passion to learn and take on new responsibilities and initiatives.
  • Excellent business judgment and the ability to collaborate with others to achieve solutions and results.
  • Ability to travel at least 20% of the time to support customer and manufacturing visits and trade shows.
